For the grand finale of the "We Give Back" music series, Everything's Been Taken gears up for Pillows and Beer, a live music event benefitting youth experiencing homelessness.

On any given night, there are over 4,000 youth who are experiencing homelessness in the Twin Cities. With how substantial this number is, we know there are not enough supportive housing resources/options in Minnesota to meet the needs of our young people. Not only do we not have enough housing options, but we also are unable to provide adequate resources to those that are able to seek shelter at the few housing options within the Twin Cities.
A story from one of our members, Pierce Jess:
"One night while I was working as a case manager at a local youth shelter, a new youth came in seeking shelter. When I went to give the youth their bedding and hygiene kit, I realized we did not have a pillow to give them. Not only did I feel horrible about this, but I was embarrassed that I had to literally stuff a pillow case with sheets in order for this youth to have something to lay their head on.
This is a real problem, and not just for the shelter I work at. Upon further research, I learned that there are no funding streams, grants, or ways to receive simple items such as pillows, bedding, or hygiene supplies. That night changed my life. Since then, I have made a conscious choice to raise awareness, funds, and supplies to address this issue, and in a clever way. This is how Pillows and Beer came to life."
The event is simple. When you donate a pillow, you get a free beer. We donate the pillows to multiple youth shelters within the Twin Cities, and you get to drink free, delicious, locally brewed beer from our sponsored brewery, Inbound Brewco. We also collect various hygiene supplies such as towels and toiletries.

Everything's Been Taken is a music collaborative made up of three entities, Carnage The Executioner, Soul Beautiful, and Laura Lou Music, uniting to address widespread hardship while advocating for the betterment of our community. They are raising awareness, raising funds, and collecting supplies for various non-profits throughout the Twin Cities all while putting on a show filled with amazing, original music. They believe #BlackLivesMatter. They believe in the power of community and the power of being able to show up as our authentic selves. They are a movement, and they give back because Everything's Been Taken.
