Today is Juneteenth 🎉
Some of you are very familiar with this holiday, while others might just be learning about it.
A little history: President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, ending slavery as we knew it. It took over two years—until June 19, 1865–for enslaved people in Galveston TX to get the news. Now, on June 19, we celebrate the freedom of enslaved Black Americans, and we commit to continuing the fight for racial justice in America.
Today, we are brewing our version of the Black Is Beautiful Stout, which we will release in a few weeks. We will donate all the proceeds of this brew!
In honor of Juneteenth, we are also donating $1 from every item sold in our taproom today to rebuild the Northside through the West Broadway Coalition and Northside Funders Group. When we say every item, we mean it. This includes crowlers to go, a pint on the patio, a tulip in the taproom, pretzels, t-shirts, anything you can imagine.
Grab a reservation so you can do your part, preorder beer & gear to go in our online store, or maybe do both!
While you’re enjoying a beer today, we invite you to do some research into Juneteenth, google the history of slavery in America, and ways you can take action today.
